Athlete Movement Screening

Movement screenings are designed to measure and seek out areas of poor mobility, strength imbalances & inefficient movement or compensatory movement patterns which may reduce your ability to move efficiently. This in turn might be the key to breaking through plateaus affecting your performance or putting areas of your body at risk of overload in your chosen sport.

At Formotion Physio we have developed sport specific screening to suit your personal goals, sport or type of training you are involved in. We use a range of evidence based mobility and strength testing, using force plates, dynamometers ( AxIT System) as well as movement tests which have been developed through our own experience working with athletes.

What is involved & how does it work?

Pre-screening

5min online questionnaire to determine sporting goals and areas of risk.

Arrival 15mins before screening to warm up

You will be sent a warm up video specific to your screening type before your appointment.

The Movement Screen
You will run through a series of tests that look at joint range of motion, flexibility and strength tests using things like force plates, dynamometers and functional movements.
Most of our screenings take around 60mins except for our CrossFit specific screen which takes 90mins, please allow an extra ~10mins after for discussion of results.

Discussion & Report
Your Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist will discuss your results after your test before creating a more in depth report which will be sent to you within 1-2 business days.

Optional Corrective Exercise Programming
You can then choose for us to create an exercise program for you to work on any areas that most need work.

These programs are designed to supplement your current training by fitting into your warm up / accessory program.
Alternatively we can discuss your results with your current coach and collaboratively come up with ways to implement changes in a way that makes the most sense for your current training.

If you opt for us to create your program we recommend a 3 - 6 month program with ~ 2 check ins during that time to make sure all is going well and make adjustments if necessary.
You can choose whether to come in again for the program to go through the exercises, or do it all online. The check ins can also be done online / through our programming app or face to face.

Retesting
Once you have worked on all the areas for the ~3-6+ month period you can choose to come in again for re-testing to see if you have improved and potentially change your focus points.
